Welcome to the heart of Rwanda, where coffee bursts with life and energy! Kirambo from the Ostrava-based Father's Coffee Roastery is a specialty coffee naturally processed in the Nyamasheke region of the Western Province. It will enchant you with its juicy sweetness and rich fruitiness. The Red Bourbon variety, grown at an altitude of 1,545 m a.s.l., gives this coffee an elegant flavor profile with notes of yuzu, cherry, milk chocolate, and cider. It’s a full-bodied cup with a vibrant fruit-forward character and perfect balance between acidity and sweetness – ideal for lovers of lively and complex filter brews.
This coffee is brought to you by the Kirambo washing station, located near Lake Kivu. It works with smallholder farmers who cultivate coffee on plots smaller than one hectare. Built back in 2008, the station faced operational challenges due to financial issues. A turning point came in 2017 when it was taken over by RTC, which has been focusing on sustainability, farmer education, and producing the highest quality coffee since the 2018 season. Thanks to this transformation, Kirambo is now considered one of the most respected stations in the region, producing highly valued micro-lots with a distinctive fruity profile.
The natural processing at Kirambo is done with meticulous care. Freshly picked cherries are hand-sorted to remove defective ones, then spread out in thin layers (just 2 cm thick) on African drying beds, where they dry slowly for up to 30 days. To ensure even fermentation and perfect flavor development, the cherries are hand-turned every hour and covered at night. This process guarantees maximum sweetness, rich fruitiness, and a beautifully clean flavor profile. If you love coffee with a full body, juicy acidity, and a lingering finish, Kirambo is definitely your cup.
