Prague roastery Merry Beans invites you to a delicious cup of filter from the tropical country of Papua New Guinea, which is full of wild flavors! In the filter of this naturally processed coffee you can enjoy a dose of cherries, red wine and chocolate.
Baroida Estate is located in the Kainantu District of the Eastern Highlands Province. The coffee plantation is situated at the top of the Lamari River valley and Mount Jabarra at an altitude of approximately 1700 metres above sea level, amongst thousands of hectares of land, around which are former colonial coffee estates (now managed by indigenous landowners) and flanked by mountains full of small-scale coffee farmers growing nearly a million trees. The name 'Baroida' comes from the eponymous phantom, believed by locals to reside in a large river rock on one of the main rivers running through the region. This stone has stubbornly stood in the middle of the river for as long as anyone can remember, refusing to budge even in the worst floods, even when other stones have been washed away.
The natural method of coffee processing is a process in which the coffee cherries are dried whole, without removing the pulp, allowing the natural sugars and flavours from the pulp to enter the bean itself. This method of processing is more time and attention consuming, as the cherries must be turned regularly to dry evenly. The result is a coffee with fuller, richer and sometimes wilder flavours that can include notes of fruit, spice or chocolate. The natural method often yields coffee with a more pronounced sweetness and lower acidity, making it ideal for those seeking intense, fruity and complex flavor experiences.
