Maya's Coffee is sourced from the Kibugu region of Embu Province in Eastern Kenya, known for its rich biodiversity and ideal conditions for growing high quality coffee. Coffee trees here grow at altitudes of around 1800 metres above sea level, where cool nights and warm days provide ideal conditions for the slow growth of coffee cherries. The coffee is processed at the Kii Washing Station, one of the region's renowned processing stations. Thanks to these conditions, the coffees here have highly prized fruity notes, a subtle acidity and a complex flavour profile. The Kibuga region is surrounded by beautiful nature, which is reflected in the quality of the coffee, which is full of freshness and natural sweetness. On top of this, the coffee is grown with love and care by local farmers who are committed to high quality standards.
The coffee is processed using the washed method, which means that the cherries are stripped of their skins and pulp after harvesting, fermented in water tanks and then dried in the sun.
