About Rebelbean

Can you summarise your roastery in a couple of sentences?

Rebelbean gives energy to those who live life according to their own rules. Our roastery is for people who are Rebels for the cause, just like us.

What's the story behind your logo?

The name is closely linked to the story of how our roastery was founded. We are Rebels because we're not scared to do things our way- the way we think is right. This applies both to the way we founded our roastery, but also to the way it's being run 'till this day. The logo itself embodies this as well. It's provocative and memorable.

What's the hardest thing about running a roastery?

The number of skills one must master. Over the years, we've had to be plumbers, electricians, drivers, accountants, baristas and roasters, all at once.

What's one thing that people still don't understand about coffee?

I think there is still a lot of disillusion about how coffee is grown, whose hands it goes through, and how much time, energy and human labour is invested before it reaches the final consumer.

What's one thing that you would do differently if you were to start all over again?

I think we would probably invest more in production technology. Partial automation would free up our hands a little, which would allow us to focus more on the growth of our roastery

From the coffee world, whose someone people should know about?

James Hoffmann, Gwilym Davies, Chris Baca, Petra Davies Veselá, 50% Arabica,...

What has been your biggest success?

That's difficult to say, each obstacle we overcame has been a big lesson for us. Some were small, but we've had a couple more significant ones.

What's something you're most proud of?

We're very fulfilled by the way we're growing as a team and as a company. We're getting better, innovating and trying to constantly think about our next step. Both internally but also in our sourcing countries, where we've launched a new and innovative project- The Underdog.

How will the coffee world look in 2025?

It will for sure be very diverse. You can already see how many new coffee shops, roasteries, projects are being set up, all of which are very specialised for their loyal customers. In my opinion, the time when we will all find our own place in this market is coming.

Tell us about your "THE cup"- the best cup of coffee you've ever had?

That'll be very difficult. I'm not the type of person that can list of their TOP 5's at the top of my head. I'm excited by every new cup of coffee that I can taste and experience.
