About Alf & Bet

It all started in the year 2009 with the opening of Café Lounge. Since then, coffee has always been in our minds or in our hands. For almost 10 years now, we have been scrutinising the coffee been left, right and centre, sourcing coffee from roasters across the entire globe, and finding ourselves knowing less and less about coffee, until we reached a point in time where we admitted to ourselves that we now know so little about coffee, that we're ready to try the legendary roasting process ourselves. And so, with the opening of Palmovka, we got ourselves an insatiable beast, somewhat comparable to an overgrown civet- coffee goes in, something magnificent comes out the other end (not applicable when you feed it an actual civet). We call him Dydrich...

We roast on a twelve-kilo capacity handcrafted roaster- the IR-12 from Diedrich Roasters. We try to source coffee from around the world, that even after so many years of experience surprises us with its exceptional and unique taste. Our roaster Honza is always learning, and so are we with him, so you don't need to worry about writing to us to let us know how well we're doing and what great coffee we're producing. We're in it for the long run, and we're certain that our coffee is only going to get better and better.

It's pretty soft and smooth
There is definitely a fine taste of bitter chocolate.
Not acidic.
Not very fruity nor sweet.
I would expect a little bit more flavour though, maybe with a finer grind
