DAK Roastery brings the unique Ethiopian FRUITELLO coffee, which is sweet, juicy and full of ripe fruit, reminiscent of fresh red berries, citrus jam and fine black tea. This lot comes from the Banko Gotiti processing station, which is known for producing naturally processed coffees with full flavour and complex aromas. The result is a coffee with a deep sweetness and balanced acidity that stands out beautifully when filtered. If you are looking for a coffee that transports you directly to sunny Ethiopia and offers an unforgettable sensory experience, Fruitello is the right choice.
The coffee was grown in the Gedeb Woreda region, specifically in the village of Banko Gotiti, which falls within the famous Yirgacheffe region. It is handled by Wete Ambela Coffee Export PLC, a company that focuses on the production of specialty Ethiopian coffee with an emphasis on precision processing and sustainable farming. The coffee cherries are sourced from farms located at altitudes between 1950 and 2100 metres, which ensures slow ripening of the fruit and thus a more intense flavour profile. Most farmers farm small plots of 1 to 2 hectares, which allows for careful monitoring of the quality of the harvest.
Fruitello is processed using a natural method that brings out its fruity notes and full sweetness. After hand-harvesting, the cherries are spread out on African beds where they are dried for 18 to 21 days. They are turned regularly throughout the drying period to ensure even drying and to prevent unwanted fermentation. This traditional processing method, together with the high altitude and rich volcanic soil, results in a coffee with a bright and clean flavour profile, where citrus freshness harmoniously combines with notes of sweet fruit and a subtle hint of black tea.
