About SOMA
Cork City-based Soma Coffee Company is the leader in specialty coffee in Ireland.
Soma Coffee was founded together by Irene and Damien Twohig and Alex Bruce in 2017. After a year of operation, they decided to roast their own coffee, so the roastery joined the original small cafe. Their coffee comes exclusively from renowned and sustainable coffee farms around the world. Their main goal is to supply their customers with only the freshest specialty coffee, which is why they roast on the Giesen roaster every week.
Why did they choose the name Soma? There's a really fun story to it! Alex came across a song he liked called Soma and began researching what the word meant. Result..? Soma is an intoxicating drink prepared from a plant and used in Vedic rituals, which is considered the drink of the gods.
