About Hasbean

Hasbean is a British roastery based in the city of Stafford. It was founded by Stephen Leighton, who interestingly enough worked as a prison guard for 10 years prior to starting his own roastery. He was always drawn to coffee. Even as a little boy all he wanted under the Christmas tree was a coffee machine. Many years later, he decided to try to start roasting his own coffee. But he didn't have any experience, any knowledge, and no friends in the business, and so he started at home in his own garage.

"I bought green coffee on the internet and then roasted it on the hob in a pan to then take with me to work every day".

After some time he bought his first home-roaster, and after that a two-kilo roaster and took on his first two employees. In 2008, he finally took the leap and committed to the coffee business full-time. In the last couple of years, Leighton is focused on growing and developing the roastery and maintaining good relationships with his coffee producers.
