About Blommers Coffee

Blommers is a small roastery from Nijmegen in the Netherlands. Berend Blommers is behind the establishment and at the age of 24 he is perhaps the youngest coffee roaster in the Netherlands.

We are committed to presenting coffee of exceptional quality with unique flavors. Thanks to close cooperation with coffee manufacturers and suppliers, we are able to buy the best green coffee beans and provide you with full traceability. We believe it is a good investment to pay premiums to farmers in order to improve the quality of their coffee production.

Our coffee is roasted with precision to ensure that we enhance the natural taste of the coffee beans. After roasting, we analyze each batch with innovative techniques to meet our standards for moisture, density, color and solubility. We offer a wide range of exceptional coffees from the most interesting origins in the world. Our goal is to help you serve amazingly good coffee with a focus on excellence, quality and sustainability.

Why did you start a roastery?

I was a real estate agent, but the work was getting more and more about and making phone calls. I soon got tired of it. I went to Mexico two years ago. My brother is married to a Mexican woman and her uncle owns a coffee plantation. The first idea was to import this coffee and launch a new brand. But even though the grains are of excellent quality, I did not like the coffee that was roasted there on the spot. I started experimenting, learning about the coffee machine and started going to barist training. The interplay of circumstances gave me the opportunity to start doing something for myself. My brother and I decided to roast our own coffee using the beans we import from Mexico.

What sets your coffee apart?

Our coffee is a completely different type of coffee than you are used to. The plantation produces organic coffee. For example, coffee should grow in the shade and on the plantation the jungle leaves provide natural protection. Coffee tastes much more fruity and less bitter. We also roast our grains much lighter than most roasters in the Netherlands.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Of course I want to grow, but I think contact with the customer is very important. I want to discuss with my customers more often to hear what they think. I would also like to send my baristas to the plantations so that they can choose their coffee and learn something interesting. I do not want to become the largest in the Netherlands, I want to be able to continue working in the traditional way.
