About Cat and Cloud Coffee

American roaster Cat and Cloud Coffee, with its heart in sunny Santa Cruz, is unique not only in its exclusive beans and eye-catching appearance, but also in its founding and vision.
Behind the establishment are coffee lovers and professionals in the field Chris Baca and Jared Truby - finalists of several barista competitions (US Barista, Brewer's Cup, and Latte Art Competition), and Charles Jack.

Before the very realization of the plan to open their own roastery, the founders collaborated on a still functioning podcast (Cat & Cloud podcast) dedicated to coffee and accessories. But all three shared the same dream - to open their own roastery in the future. When Jared Truby, Chris Baca, and Charles Jack began making plans to create a coffee business, they figured they would launch in a year or two. All three lived in different areas of California and had different jobs and responsibilities in between. But when Baca unexpectedly left his job, where he saw no future, the coffee opportunity came. Baca approached Truby and Jack to see if they might be interested in starting a business right away. Two weeks later, in 2016, the three had a lease and Cat & Cloud was born.

Why the Cat and Coffee name and logo?
The name Cat & Cloud was inspired by a simple drawing Julia Mayer, their friend, made of Bac and Truby as a cat and a cloud. The simple and playful nature of the design stuck, and after brainstorming on what to call their business, the name Cat & Cloud immediately felt right to all three founders. "Naming your company is like naming your child" says Jack. "You want it to encompass all the different aspects of you as owners and what you want the company to be. I really tried to find a name that meant something to us and embodied what we were striving for.'

The main philosophy and idea of this roastery is to remain transparent - for customers and the market. The employee community is based on honesty, simplicity and the love of coffee that unites everyone. Therefore, you can be sure that these people put a piece of their heart into their work, which is reflected in the amazing quality, presentation and taste of the coffee itself. You can learn more about the mission and the project itself directly from one episode of the aforementioned podcast, which deals with the topic and describes it in detail.

I don't like to write negative reviews, but basically I always write according to the truth. And this coffee simply didn't taste good to me at all.
Maybe it's just my personal problem with Congo coffees, but so far I haven't had one that didn't taste "smoky".
Unfortunately, I can't smell the flavor profile of this coffee at all. When I add its price to everything... I expected much, much more.
I give it three stars because it is drinkable. And I recommend it, because it can definitely fit someone and everyone should take a picture for themselves. :) But if you're looking for fresher, juicier coffees and fruity flavor profiles, this one probably won't be quite the choice for you. :)
