About Square Mile
The award-winning Square Mile Coffee Roasters in London was founded in 2008 by pioneers with select coffee Annete Moldavaer and James Hoffmann with the aim of "making London famous coffee". Among the challenging implementation, sustainable practices, various awards, titles and the staff who are essentially Britain's all-star coffee team, Square Mile is particularly notable in an area where others are not always so great: getting special grains from non-traditional regions. At the heart of the action are 28 talented coffee professionals who share the same passion for what they do. He is constantly trying to develop, push the boundaries and look for better solutions for everyday tasks.
James Hoffmann
James first became famous after winning the World Barista Championship in 2007. He then co-founded Square Mile Coffee Roasters in 2008 and in 2014 published The World Atlas of Coffee. His book explains important facts about coffee varieties, cultivation methods, roasting and preparation with a focus on origin, and the like. Since 2018, it has gained popularity on YouTube's online video sharing platform, focusing on the specialty coffee industry, reviewing coffee accessories and evaluating various brewing methods.
Anette Moldavaer
Anette began her coffee career as a barista in Norway more than 20 years ago. Since 2003 she lives in the United Kingdom and has been active in all important sectors of the coffee industry, such as the purchase and import of green beans, education and training, cupping and roasting. After co-founding Square Mile in 2008, she helped found the London School of Coffee and has many years of experience as a judge at the UK and World Barista Championships and the Cup of Excellence. For three years in a row, she was the main coffee roaster at the World Barista Championship and her cupping knowledge led her to win the World Cup Tasters Championship in 2007.
