About Ripsnorter

Ripsnorter Coffee is the work of Zjevaun Janga, a passionate barista and roaster who started his journey in the field of fine coffee at a young age. After working in a Michelin restaurant, where he fell in love with the art of coffee preparation, he decided to dedicate his life to this passion. In 2018, together with Chris Kwong, he opened a sister company, Harvest Cafe and Bakery, and a few years later, during the COVID pandemic, he began intensively studying the art of coffee roasting. Today, he is happy to present his own Ripsnorter Coffee roastery, where he and his colleague Chris Kwong are dedicated to the production of coffee specialties.

In early 2024, Zjevaun won the Dutch Barista of the Year 2024, a competition organized by SCA. This achievement is not only a recognition of his skill and passion for coffee, but also a testament to his commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in the field of coffee preparation. Jang's victory is an inspiration to all who share his love of fine coffee and desire to achieve perfection.

The name Ripsnorter Coffee comes from Australian slang, where the term "ripsnorter" means something truly wonderful. This inspiration comes from the days when Zjevaun and his team lived and worked in Melbourne, a city known for its coffee culture. They are passionate about working with coffee farmers from all over the world and constantly strive to improve the living conditions of coffee farmers. Ripsnorter Coffee's philosophy is simple - strive for better and keep things simple, which is reflected in every cup of coffee they make.

The roastery places great emphasis on quality and sustainability. The coffee is roasted on a six-kilogram Giesen roaster with the aim of best expressing the natural characteristics of each bean. Working closely with growers and focusing on transparency, they ensure that every step from farm to cup is done with the utmost care. At Ripsnorter Coffee, they believe that great coffee starts with careful and thoughtful cultivation, and their efforts can be seen and felt in every cup.
