The Dutch Friedhats Coffee seems to be enjoying Colombian coffees this year, but this one is not just another natural coffee. Diego Horta is a coffee producer who took over his family’s tradition. Together with his parents, he transitioned from traditional methods to producing specialty coffee – something they started in 2013. After finishing school, Diego decided to specialize in coffee because he saw it as an opportunity for economic stability for his family. Simply put, when he was fifteen and deciding what to do next, coffee was the obvious choice. His farm, El Rincón, got its name due to its unique location between two mountains forming a corner, creating such a distinctive environment – natural hidden gems. The farm is located in a nature reserve, where a stream provides water for the surrounding areas. Today, Diego is not only a producer but also a taster and barista. Coffee is his life’s purpose, as evidenced by his motto: "For me, coffee is a service that must be offered to everyone who needs it."
