The Amsterdam roaster LOT61 Coffee Roasters was at one time a pioneer of the so-called third wave of coffee. However, time does not stand still, and in an increasingly crowded market, the founders felt that they had to be true masters of their field. Back in the day, LOT61 was going through something of an "identity crisis" when it took two or three roasters under its wing over the course of a few years. Now, however, they go for themselves and do what they do brilliantly and with love for their craft.
In the roastery, they roast a refined selection of coffee that comes from ethical sources from farms that are characterized by ecological and social sustainability. The members always wanted to find a better way, whatever it was. Their goal is to realize the vision by simply following the desire to discover and be the best.
The founders left home with a desire for adventure in search of a more fulfilling life: discovering new places, ideas and influences gives them a spring in their step. They have the best imagination when they use their hands to craft: they do things the way they are meant to be done. But what they do, they do for people like all of us - passionate coffee lovers. After all, as one of the founders says: "Nothing brings us more joy than to fire up the roaster, open the doors and serve our coffee community".
WHY do they do what they do in the roastery? LOT61 is far more than just a coffee shop and roaster, they are educators, innovators and specialists in reducing the carbon footprint from seed to cup. Their mission is to be a circular coffee brand in every aspect of their business and every day they are visibly one step closer by using reusable/recyclable products and natural resources (i.e. materials, energy and water).
In short, this path is in their DNA and they are passionate about building the best possible relationships while roasting deliciously addictive coffee in many different blends.
