About DAK Coffee Roasters

The Amsterdam-based roastery in diapers- that's DAK Coffee Roasters. Why DAK? Dak means "roof" in Dutch, and it was a moment in 2019 when Louis-Philippe Boucher was sitting on the roof of his home, drinking coffee when he decided to start his own roastery. Despite still being in its infancy, it is already producing professional products, coffee roasted with love and passion- exactly like their motto states: "From farm to cup, we take great pride in celebrating quality coffee."

After working many years in the Finance and Venture Capital industry, Louis-Philippe decided to make the big move and leave everything behind to follow his passion. Much like with wine and beer, he wants people to discover the breadth and understand the complexity of flavours that coffee can offer. Coffee philosophy: Louis-Philippe used to be one of those people adding tons of cream and sugar to his coffee. That all changed when he lived in Milan and was introduced to the world of Italian espresso. This experience sparked a journey to discover and appreciate the many ways coffee can be brewed, served and enjoyed. He truly believes that every coffee beverage is unique in its own way and deserves a dedicated roast that celebrates it.

DAK Coffee roasters roastery lives by these three slogans: ETHICALLY SOURCED - CAREFULLY SELECTED - ECO-FRIENDLY PACKAGING

ETHICALLY SOURCED

We often forget where the things we consume come from (although this is something that is being brought to people's attention more and more), but we all know that good coffee tastes even better when we know that it has been obtained ethically. It is absolutely essential for DAK that their farmers get paid fairly and can afford to live in good conditions. They only enter into partnerships with suppliers who share these values, work with exclusive lots and have a broad awareness of the farmers from whom they take coffee. DAK is committed to paying premium prices for green beans in order to ensure that all people in this coffee growing and supply chain receive a fair reward. And also for customers to get the highest quality.

CAREFULLY SELECTED

We believe the only way to identify unique flavours is to continually try new and innovative roasting profiles. For that reason, we are creative with our roasts and also do our best to sample-roast as often as we can! Once a week, we order new green coffee samples. These samples are roasted in a very simple manner to limit the effect, the roast might have on the flavour of the origin. After sample-roasting, we conduct regular cupping sessions. Here, the new origin samples are tasted, and we identify the origins we want to order in larger quantities. In order to identify the roast profiles that will eventually go on the shelves, we repeat the process of roasting the selected beans. However, this time we let our creativity run wild and test different combinations of roasting lengths, temperatures and airflow, to create unique roasts for specific beverages. Finally, a final cupping session with the bean in question, roasted in many different ways, allow us to decide on and finalize the roast profile that best highlight the unique flavour profile of its origin.

ECO-FRIENDLY PACKAGING

One thing is being financially ethical when working with farmers, but it's equally as important to respect the environment during the growth cycle. In order not to burden the ecosystem, even more, DAK packs coffee in eco-friendly packages - 100% recyclable, aluminium-free and CO2-neutral. DAK works with suppliers that balance the amount of carbon dioxide they produce in the production of packaging with CO2 reduction projects for growing coffee on-farm. Even the boxes in which the coffee packages are delivered are 100% recyclable and also made of recycled materials and written on only with water-based ink. The goal of DAK Coffee Roastery is to constantly reduce their carbon footprint, after all, we only have one planet.

We are proud to have coffee from such an exceptional roastery and that we can offer their coffee to you. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we do!

It's a ferment, so it's quite distinct and fragrant

Tasting notes match the description.
It was on sale
It is not the natural aroma of coffee beans. Coffee beans have a strong aroma. I'm not a fan of infused coffee beans and it doesn't say so on the packaging!

nice packaging, like all DAK coffees
Milky came from DAK is excellent, several other coffees from DAK are excellent, but this was pure horror.
I was curious and paid extra for it..
coffee smelled very strongly of coconut, which I managed to drink only with a lot of self-denial, and I really like coconut... half the package went to waste...

The "coffee" is certainly well made and the pina colada can really be smelled there. But I recommend only for experimenters. For "kaffers" like me - reach for the classics, Kofio has some good ones.
I reached for this coffee a bit by mistake. Unfortunately, Zrna hardly smells of coffee, the taste of coffee has also completely disappeared, after drinking a long aftertaste of coconut.

Amazing, great, fun
Yes, it really does taste like pineapple and coconut. It's not a peasant's license
Well, it's not for people who like the traditional taste of coffee. It's basically flavored/infused
