About Sedmitchka Coffee Roasters
Sedmitchka Coffee is a roaster in Dubnica with great bottles.
Ondřej and Andrea Mišovič are the founders of this Slovakian roastery and they are tempting everyone with very interesting packaging. They don't pack their coffee in bags, but in bottles. But how did this story come about?
Ondrej is a former hockey player who played hockey in America and until recently returned to Slovakia only for the summer months. Andrea already had experience in hotel management and together they decided to go for it. They admit that they went into the coffee business blindly. But in the end, why not give it a try? However, the door to the world of coffee was opened to them by the well-known roaster Peter Szabó, owner of the Coffeein roastery, without whom their cafe would not exist.
At first, Sedmitchka was just a cafe. It evolved into a specialty coffee shop, but both owners felt they wanted to move on. "We got to the point where we were no longer satisfied with just setting recipes and choosing coffees from the best Slovak or world roasters, and we felt that we needed more. Those who know us know that Ondřej hones in on every detail and is not satisfied with anything that is mediocre. Even on things that may seem perfect to many, he always tries to improve something."
“We recently bought a new Stronghold S7 pro roaster, which is the pinnacle of the world of premium coffee, except for the Loring, which we didn't have the funds for. It roasts using hot air and halogen. Behind our roasting philosophy are people like Tim Wendelboe, Audun Sorbotten and Math Karczewski, who has been our coach and mentor since the beginning. The role model for the roasting style is the Scandinavian roasters. Our coffees should taste clean, bright and without unwanted bitterness."
A very interesting thing that makes this roaster memorable is the packaging. Sedmitchka does not use traditional coffee bags, but bottles. “We knew we definitely didn't want to switch to bags. We have a cafe and a household full of them and we can no longer reuse or recycle them. We found the solution in rPet bottles, which have many advantages. We also back up all these rPet bottles in our premises and the cost of the packaging, which is 1 euro, is included in the price of the coffee. We then put a new cap with a sealing label on the used bottle and it goes back into circulation. And even if someone doesn't return it, they can use it for many other things because it's a bottle.”
