About Awaken Coffee

What motivates us to get out of bed in the morning? Coffee. This simple yet telling slogan accompanies the Hungarian roaster aptly named Awaken Coffee. The roastery was founded by Adam Dobos in 2016, when he realized that he wanted to be close to coffee and the position of barista was not enough for him. In the same year, he met Rolf Karlsson, the founder of April Coffee Roasters from Copenhagen and at the same time a finalist of the Brewers cup world championship. The Awaken roaster profiles itself with an emphasis on the relationship with farmers and sustainability.

It is characteristic of the Awaken Coffee roastery that they only work with coffee that has received a sensory evaluation of at least 84 points. The roaster then divides the selection of coffee into five categories. These categories are intended to cover a wide spectrum of tastes and preferences of all customers. These include classic coffees, which the roaster describes as a guide to the world of coffee (a cup with a full creamy taste), as well as elegant coffees with a balanced velvety body and a sweet tail. They named their third group of coffees explorer, i.e. adventurer, so they refer to coffees for advanced coffee lovers who are not afraid of fruity tones and acids. Awaken Coffee's extravagant coffees include select beans from small lots and unusual regions of origin. The last category is limited editions, i.e. coffees that are characterized by a nano batch, non-traditional processing or from a rare variety.

Sustainability in the coffee industry has not been just an empty promise for a long time, they also have a sustainable philosophy in Awaken Coffee. Their main idea in this area is to maintain strong relationships with farmers. This means long-term cooperation with the knowledge that the money will go directly to them and the local community. They try to achieve this by buying from the same farmers year after year and can say they are in it together from seed to cup.
