About SUMO Coffee Roasters

Sumo Coffee Roasters was founded in the summer of 2020 by the World Cup Taster 2019 champion, Daniel Horbat.

Sumo Coffee Roasters' mission is to create a transparent and ethical coffee business that elevates and celebrates everyone involved in the coffee world. Whether it's the producers and farmers who put their heart and sweat into the craft, or the baristas who prepare the final product. Their aim is to ensure that there is direct trade and that farmers are paid a fair price. In addition, SUMO wants to raise the standard and experience for everyone involved in the industry by helping to educate consumers about farm craftsmanship by telling the story behind the coffee bean.

Who is behind Sumo Coffee Roasters?

Daniel Horbat is a big name on the coffee scene, having won the World Cup Tasting Championship in 2019, the first time such an achievement has been achieved by an Irish representative. He started working in the industry at university and has gained experience behind the bar, teaching, mentoring and being a key part of the team opening and establishing several cafes in Dublin during his 18 year career.

Things started to get real for him when he discovered the beauty of premium coffee. Its delicious complexity captivated him so much that he gradually began to recognize and recognize how each grain differs in taste and aroma depending on many factors.

Since his first competition in 2016, Daniel has won (in addition to the World Championship) three Irish Cup Tasting Competitions, placed 3rd in the Coffee Masters 2018 in London and qualified for the Irish Latte Art finals several times.

Sweet and juicy. That's probably how I would describe this coffee.
I don't always like Brazilian coffees, but this one is truly a pleasure in every sip. :)
