About Coffee People

Made with a mission

The delicious aroma of coffee is what keeps us alive. Our number one priority is to create coffee that puts a smile on your face and kicks your ass. From the cultivation of coffee beans to the sustainable packaging of our coffee, responsibility is at the heart of everything we do. It's a great feeling knowing exactly what's in your cup or thermos. At Coffee People, we make high-quality coffee widely available and accessible - offering a delicious and responsibly produced alternative to unknown mass brands. Coffee lovers can follow the entire journey of our coffee beans, from distant fields to the most durable aromatic cup of pure joy.

Coffee People values people

Growers, roasters and coffee lovers are members of one big tribe that we respect immensely. It's embedded in our DNA that we value what farmers do and make sure they get a fair price. At the same time, coffee lovers are equally important to us. We don't want to disappoint them with a mediocre drink - at any cost. We really put our heart and soul into our coffee! Our "tribe" was founded by Annar Alas and Heili Politanov - two internationally recognized and certified coffee assessors, whose noses can find even the rarest pearls of the coffee world. And you will find these rarities at Coffee People. It is home to coffee experts with unique skills and experienced taste buds who simply love coffee. And by the way - they're all really great people too.

Roasted smartly and sustainably

Coffee is like a mathematical operation with several variables. If one variable disappears, the others lose their value as well. The taste of coffee therefore depends on three equal components: the highest quality raw material, i.e. coffee beans, the roasting process (which highlights the richness and nuances of the beans) and the skills of the barista. But how to ensure that all coffee lovers experience the true feeling of coffee? In our roastery, we roast coffee using a state-of-the-art Loring roaster that circulates hot air to warm the beans. This prevents oxygen from evaporating, so the beans retain their flavor. While the hot pans in conventional roasters burn the beans, the Loring roaster gives each bean the time and attention it deserves. And did you know that the Loring roasting method saves 85% of heat compared to other devices? It helps us reduce our ecological footprint, which is essential for our tribe.

Meeting with our master roaster

It's no secret that there are only a few roasters in the world that scientifically analyze their processes down to milliseconds or millidegrees. We are glad that Coffee People has a person on the team who embodies this thinking: "Johan Rohtla, our master roaster, world-class biochemist and coffee expert with a degree in molecular biology. Johan, a true coffee wizard, understands the soul of heated beans. He spends his days in the laboratory and examines the relationship between caffeine content, roasting and brewing. The result? A delicious coffee with an exceptionally clean taste, ready to put a smile on the faces of coffee lovers around the world.

Direct trade business model

You pay for quality, which is why we pay fair prices for our purchases. Our purchase prices are much higher than the world market price level. This shows that we value coffee farmers and motivates them to follow the traditional methods of growing organic coffee. It is also close to us that coffee growers are constantly trying to improve the quality of their yields. And this financial incentive benefits not only the coffee growers, but also their families, for whom coffee is often the most important source of income.

Illustration

We have developed two separate coffee lines: one for retail and the other for the HoReCa sector. Each pack contains a unique illustration by Estonian fairy tale and fashion illustrator Marju Tammik. The illustrations were inspired by the countries where coffee is grown and drawn with Japanese brush and paper. You can easily distinguish the retail range of coffee from the HoReCa range - the retail packs have illustrations of animals, while the HoReCa packs have faces.
