The coffee comes from the Nyamasheke region in western Rwanda, which stretches along the shores of Lake Kivu. This area is known for its volcanic soil rich in nutrients, high altitude, and stable climate, creating ideal conditions for growing specialty coffee. The Cyesha washing station, where this coffee originates, is located at an altitude of 1550 meters. Cyesha collaborates with local farmers who cultivate the Bourbon variety, prized for its rich flavor and aroma, with a focus on quality and sustainability.
This coffee is processed using the dry method, also known as natural. After harvesting in July 2024, the coffee cherries are sun-dried on African raised beds for approximately 20–30 days in their whole fruit form, allowing the sweetness and fruity notes to fully develop and infuse into the beans. This process gives the coffee its characteristic flavor profile with distinct fruity and sweet tones.
