Imagine a quiet moment with a cup of Genmaicha tea, a traditional Japanese green tea enriched with roasted rice – the perfect choice for moments of relaxation or light refreshment. Let the toasted rice leaves gently dance under the surface of the hot water and enjoy an infusion full of fresh, smooth notes with a hint of toasted popcorn.

The magic of Genmaicha tea lies in the harmonious combination of quality green sencha and roasted rice. The combination of these two ingredients creates a light, golden infusion that not only refreshes, but also gently warms. Green tea was not a cheap commodity, so the poorer Japanese, in order to use fewer leaves and still indulge in something aromatic, added roasted rice to it - thus Genmaicha was born. And as it happens, they created something that is now a culinary classic, and now this tea, originally intended for the poorest classes, is a popular part of traditional tea culture in Japan. Genmaicha is the perfect companion to light dishes and you can prepare it repeatedly - we recommend two to three infusions.

When preparing teas, it is very important to follow a certain recipe, which will make the tea taste the way it should. For preparation, set the water to a temperature of 70-80 °C, as there is a risk that the sencha leaves will burn at higher temperatures. Last but not least, it is also important to maintain a certain ratio of tea leaves and water. In this case, the ideal ratio is about 3 grams of tea per 120 ml of water and steep for 1 to 3 minutes, according to personal preference.

  • Ingredients: green tea, roasted rice
  • Temperature: 70-80°C
  • Time: 1-3 minutes
  • Number of infusions: 2 - 3
